SatisGeo PMG-2 is an affordable, robust, reliable, and easy-to-use magnetic subsurface surveying and mapping instrument. The well-known proton precession method provides accurate measurements without being affected by sensor orientation, temperature, or position. Thanks to its intuitive and straightforward operation, untrained personnel can operate it. Optional GPS allows data to be stamped with geo coordinates shown in UTM format during measurement.
- High resolution
- Excellent accuracy
- Profile/base station measurement
- Wide range of measured fields
- Internal FLASH memory up to 1.8 million readings
- Vertical or horizontal gradient configuration
- USB interface
- Optional GPS

- Magnetometer:
A cost-effective option for measuring the absolute value of the Earth’s magnetic field (20,000-100,000 nT) and its daily variations. - Gradiometer:
A two-sensor version that can measure the vertical and horizontal gradient of the Earth’s magnetic field (±1 000 nT/m). The horizontal or vertical gradient of the magnetic field between the two sensors is determined by subtraction.
- MANUAL:
- One-button manual start of measurement.
- Ideal for spot or grid measurements.
- Allows setting of line and position with automatic position incrementation.
- Supports gradient measurement in the gradiometer version.
- The GPS position is stored if the GPS is active.
- WALK:
- Designed to map large areas with external GPS.
- Automatic measurement at adjustable intervals (0.5 s, 1 s, 1.5 s, 2 s, 2.5 s and 3 s).
- Supports gradient measurement in the gradiometer version.
- AUTO:
- A mode for long-term measurement of daily variations of the Earth’s magnetic field.
- Setting measurement intervals from 5 s to 24 h (with 1 second resolution).
- Gradient measurement is not available in this mode.
| Battery | Non-magnetic Li-ion battery (14.8 V / 6 Ah) with a minimum of 12 hours of operations in gradient mode. The battery capacity can be doubled on demand. |

The PMG-2 can be equipped with an external GPS receiver based on accuracy and budget requirements:
- Ublox 7 GPS:
- 56 channels with GPS/QZSS, GLONASS, SBAS (WAAS, EGNOS, MSAS) support.
- Accuracy:
- Position (GPS/GLONASS): 2.5 m CEP / 4.0 m CEP.
- SBAS: 2.0 m CEP.
- Types of antennas:
- Calian TW3101: Non-magnetic antenna, installation on a pole with sensors.
- Ublox ANN-MS: A modified, more affordable antenna housed in a cap.
The PMG-2 does not need calibration in principle and provides absolute magnetic field values.
